THE FENCING MASK

(m 200)  Any mask which meets the current Federation Internationale d'Escrime or USA Fencing rules requirements for safety (including resistance to penetration and bib size) may be used in Fence Dry! competitions.  Because the target at foil does not include the bib in Fence Dry! competitions, there is no requirement that the bib target for electric fencing be included or marked in any way.

(m 201)  Fencers are expected to maintain their masks in good condition.  Directors will inspect masks for dents, wires out of position, and cleanliness at the start of every competition, and may reject the use of any mask which appears unsafe or to pose the potential for disease transmission.  Punch tests may be performed at the director's direction in the case of doubt as to the safety of the wire mesh.
