RANKING SYSTEM (revision 2010-2011 Season)

(a 200)  The fencer ranking system provides a tool to determine the current relative strength of fencers, adjusted immediately after each registered competition. 

(a 200.a) Each associate member starts with 700 points.  Fencers who already having rankings based on previous seasons start with those rankings.

(a 200.b) At the end of each competition the total record of each fencer in the competition will be calculated using the following formula:

new point ranking = old point ranking + (3 x (victories - defeats)) + indicators

(a 200.c) Victories and defeats include all of the pool and elimination round bouts.  Indicators are the total of touches scored in the pool and elimination bouts minus the total of touches received in the pool and elimination round bouts.
