THE FENCING BOUT
(b 200) Individual bouts may be fenced for the following number of touches:
(b 200.a) Pool competitions: Bouts in pool competitions may be fenced for any of the following schemes of hits:

(b 200.b) Double or triple elimination competitions: Bouts in double or triple elimination events are fenced as for pool competitions.
(b 200.c) Single elimination competitions: Bouts in single elimination competitions may be fenced for any of the following schemes of hits:

(b 200.d) Individual challenge matches: Bouts in individual challenge competitions may be fenced according to the pool or single elimination tables.
(b 201) Team matches may be fenced as follows:
(b 201.a) Relay format matches: 45 touches in foil,
epee, or sabre. Bouts are fenced for increments of 5 touches, so that the
fencer on the leading team at the end of his or her bout will have a score equal
to no more than 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 touches after bouts 1
through 9 of the match.
(b 201.b) Bout format matches: 9 bouts each fought for 5 touches in foil,
epee, or sabre. In elimination competitions the match may be terminated
when one team wins 5 bouts.
(b 201.c) Three weapon team matches: either 1 bout of foil for 5 touches, 1
bout of epee for 1 touch, 1 bout of sabre for 5 touches; or 1 bout of foil for 5
touches, 1 bout of epee for 5 touches, 1 bout of sabre for 5 touches.
